A Colorful Wedding in the Catskill Mountains
The family spent the spring digging into the soil like garden gnomes, crafting winding trails of tall grass and sowing colorful wildflowers that would burst just in time for an August wedding. When I arrived, it was like stepping into a postcard—a sky so blue it felt as though it had been painted by a child with a crayon too big for their hand. I hoped they planted perennials, because who wouldn’t want this wedding-day postcard to return, year after year, on their anniversary?
This East-coast August day was suspiciously perfect, as if the universe was having a particularly good hair day. Not a drop of rain, no sweat, and the timeline stretched luxuriously, like the softest cashmere scarf. Josh and Lizzy were effortless and all smiles, embracing every moment and hugging everyone - full body - no half hugs here. The light was like honey in every direction, their families were down to Earth, their friends’ colorful outfits and big fun energy were flirting with my camera. I was seated for dinner at the “fun table” and the food was oh-so-deeee-licious! Then there was the sunset, the best one of 2024 that we all did see - so good in fact- that we all abandoned our hot dinner to run out to watch it together and say “wooow”. Also. no mosquito bites?? I stopped to smell the flowers. At darkness and peak tequila - shirts came off!! The ladies howled!! (sorry, you will not see a trace of those young men’s chests on display here b/c some things “you just had to be there” for and that’s that). Icing on the cake? I got to work alongside some of my favorite humans—those bold names you see in neon in my heart aka in bold just a few eyeball steps down. So much talent and kindness.
So take note, astro-believers, that on 8.10.24, the planets were playing nice. The Sun was strutting through Leo, and the Moon was balancing on a tightrope like Philippe Petit's in Libra.
