The Arnold House

There are not enough Catskills venues with a default rain plan that doesn’t require an expensive tent rental. In my opinion, tents don’t cut it. The ground is still soggy, it always gets cold, and the trek to the pop-up bathrooms is a struggle for guests.

The Arnold House is among my favorite upstate venues because besides it being a cozy, beautiful property, it has a large greenhouse, a sky-lit barn that does not feel too “barny” and an indoor lodge vibe going on.

This was one of my favorite rainy-weather weddings to date and being on the East Coast I shoot a lot of them. I hold this one dear not only for aesthetics and rainy- logistical reasons but for Lauren & Jon’s complete lack of fucks given. They didn’t let the rain get to them. They were so elated, happy, and positive all day and just went with it. Their energy was felt, it was contagious and trickled down onto everyone else. Nobody cared it was raining. At one point in the day, the rain paused and we took full advantage and ran out for some couples portraits. This is the way it goes on rainy wedding days - all bets are off with portrait timing - we let the Weather Gods decide and pounce when we can.
