You Will be Missed. Gramercy Park Hotel

The Gramercy Park Hotel was one of our city favs. Moody, elegant, cozy, cool, velvety, and casually full of iconic art by Warhol & Lachapelle (to name a few) Unfortunately, the poor management along with the pandemic resulted in the hotel's demise, leaving a void in the hearts of us who cherished it. for me, it was one of the biggest historical losses the city took.

GPH was a richly historical hotel with a reputation of being a party girl that allowed rock and roll royalty to take over its rooms for weeks at a time, getting away with whatever the hell they wanted so long as their record label paid the tab. through the birth of punk and new wave, the hotel’s guest list became a social register of rock history, including everyone from Bowie, Dylan, Aerosmith, u2, The Clash, blondie, and Madonna. there’s an incredibly juicy story about all the things that went down in the gph written by the daughter of the hotel’s owner, who, along with her family, lived in the hotel for 20+ years. such a good read.

Willa & Jason was the last wedding I shot at GPH and had I known it was the last I would have spent the end of my night downstairs in the Rose Bar shedding a tear in my last drink.
